I Smile.

I burn my body to ashes

But my conscience savors and yearns

I rot amidst my own ashes

But my soul transpires beyond the patriarchal tavern.

I burn and I smile

Beyond my submissive rage

For I have no dreams

Only a small selfish realm.

I burn and I smile

Even from my ashes, when he rise

Drowning me beneath my own existence

Setting my red hair- aflame.

I burn and I smile

From among the quivering ashes

Subsiding, submerging- dying

O God- Can I please cease the smile?

A woman questioning almost everything, trying to find answers through her's and your words. I am on an unending quest, walking the paths of unknown. I am walking and walking, may be too slow, but I am doing it. I am happy as long as I do not stop. I will be content to fall, to fly, to swim, to drown, only never to stop.

  1. This is so absolutely brilliant and beautiful Moushmi! The willingness to rise and shine is a measure of strength and the pain behind the smile that is held day to day is so evident. Indeed it takes a fire burning within for this.
