Unlocked by Sonia Dogra

Historical tales in verse, ever thought of that? At least I didn’t but here I am with one such book and just as amazing an author. Unlocked by Sonia Dogra is a book of poetry at the outset. But there is so much more to it that an initial review or expression of thoughts is impossible by me. I am, a little surprised, a little too in awe.

The book is not only a free flow of emotions, or love, or hatred or thoughts, but it has sheer facts from history. A subject which most of us fail to give credit to when usually we should. Nonetheless the book brings to us some really intriguing facts, which otherwise go unnoticed. The author has put into it a lot of thought and research, that is clearly evident. There are so many historical tales, in here, so many facts that I am sure most of us are unaware of. I had been so far a novice in the subject, still am but this book has triggered all my old itchings of reading about unknown facts, more so when we have so many strong women whom we just don’t know because it always was His Story.

The Epilogue of the book says that this is just a small drop in the ocean, that there are many more unknown and hidden secrets. I believe her. She has intrigued me enough to hunt down a few historical texts. My knowledge in the field is definitely a hindrance but all of it is far too enticing. The stories already portrayed are full of valour, deceit, heroism, enmity, all of it does nothing but make me curious. The last message, to learn from these instances, to know how humanity needs to right itself, what needs not repetition reflects nothing but eloquence.

The writer has gained at least one ardent fan for life and I am sure there will be many more. All my best wishes to this amazing writer.

The book is not yet available on Amazon or any other platform as far as I know. I had the privilege of reading it through her blogchatter but if it was I would rate it nothing below 5 stars. You can find more of her writings on soniadogra.com

Rating: 5 out of 5.
