City Of Dreams #2

I just went out and stopped writing about the city of dreams yesterday, probably because I was overwhelmed. Or I guess the better reason would be because I was tired by only writing about the tiresome days that I have had working there.

But despite all the tiring days, I did manage to have a little bit of outing, and a 2 day short journey around the city. I did, for a while, consider not going, because I was dead tired already, but I could not miss it. And hence, I went.

Though, only after a loooooong and a relaxing bath early in the morning.

And a last look outside my room at the rainy weather:

IMG_0379.JPG

The journey began in the most peaceful way with rains, and clouds, and a wonderful person driving next to you 🙂

And this is somewhere I was heading to:

Tell me you don’t like the place? Tell me? Can you dare that?

I mean you can say that you don’t like my unprofessional clicks, but the place? This place with fog, and chilly rains, and high peaked mountains, and lakes and rivers, and waterfalls, and oh!! Oh the beauty of the place!!!

Since no words, and no pictures can describe this, I will add another picture as blurred as my descriptions:

IMG_0570

I simply wanted to get lost in here., to be invisible, somewhere, down there.

IMG_0752

I could literally see nothing amidst the fog, it was so sooooo beautiful!!

IMG_0740

And then somehow, I got lost in there, completely!!

An age old temple:

A serene waterfall, which later on we did go to.

IMG_0669

And this was the humble abode for the next day. Though it wasn’t as grand as the previous one, it was as quiet as it could be. So quiet, that in the night I had to put the Tv on, to feel some kind of presence except me, and my friend!

IMG_0585.JPG

But it had a lovely view, all the same:

IMG_0587

When you are ready for the day, and the other people are taking more time than required :-!

IMG_0684.JPG

When you keep getting clicked, despite your wishes, by your stupid friends.

When you are always confused which way to go? Where everyone else was following or where no one was.

IMG_0632.JPG

And you end up, always, where no one was. And sometimes it does become scary, lonely and haunted 😀

IMG_0647.JPG

I swear to god, I was not even trying to hide my face in here. I promise 😀 It was God’s intention,. :-p (Laughing hysterically here)

IMG_0808.JPG

Oh the peace of this place!!

IMG_0821.JPG

Another part of my one big happy family : (HAHAHAHAHA)

IMG_0324.JPG

I cannot go back and shame myself without visiting this place!! No people., I cannot!!! No chance. This is the only place where I allow myself to slip and say something like ‘FAVOURITEST’. Yes, I do announce this place to be my favouritest in the world!!

IMG_0323.JPG

And that is a mandatory click at the said place. My friends know that 🙂

Well, it was an amazing journey, the much wanted break. But then somehow, how I don’t know, the things went so downhill, that I’d want them to be erased. But I cannot do that, sadly. So I’ll try and forget them.

As is said, all is well that ends well.

IMG_0848.JPG

Since I had missed my flight by then, and I was left with practically no extra money to waste on the last moment expensive flights, I had to take the long train journey, and I thought I’d miss the view of the clouds. But seems like, sometimes, when things go against you, you get little pieces of joys. What I got is the same cloud view, just from somewhere I should be, grounded and down to earth.

IMG_0853.JPG

Well, I had a mixed bag of emotions there, as always. Only this time, it went a little too far. Anyways, I love this city so, so much that I cannot say anything about it.

I will miss the place, till I return.

And return I will, if only to visit my favouritest place..

City of Dreams #1

My recent travel to the city of dreams was not all troubles, it was part fun too.

It started with work and meetings and conferences for three continuous days, and then there were two days of adventure and pleasure and peace. At least so I thought. But from then on everything turned downhill, very unexpectedly, and my stay had to be extended for another 5 days. And those five days I will never ever want to remember. And if possible, I’d erase them, but since I cannot erase them, at least I can try and forget them.

Below is a pictorial journey through my days in and around the city of dreams.

The journey starts:

My stay for the first three days: (And I was loving it :-D)

When you are served a royal treat:

IMG_0321.JPG

But it’s not your cup of tea, so you turn to a lighter version next morning 😉

IMG_0559.JPG

And after a long tiring day, you think of something like this:

IMG_0400.JPG

But after one glass no one filled me another 😦 and so I decided to take my book and an empty glass and head (alone 😉 )  towards:

IMG_0547.JPG

The next morning I take out the time to admire the beautiful view from my room and I was in full awe of it.

IMG_0381.JPG

Well the view was accompanied with yet another cup of coffee

IMG_0382

Though the day started as soothingly as it could be, but it went to be the most tiring one. This did not stop me however, from admiring the night view from my room:

IMG_0405

The third day was even more tiring, running from one place to another, travelling in trains, rickshaws, cabs, and what not. I was so drenched by the end of the day that I dare not look at myself in here:

IMG_0560.JPG

All I could see was my bed, and I had the only desire to go and just drowse off on it. No thoughts of food or drinks, or reading a book or even that wonderful warm bath could drag me out of it:

IMG_0538.JPG

And I slept off, talking to someone on the phone, not even getting out of my day dress:

Enough for now, I will get back to the more awesomeness soon.

Poicha, Gujarat

Poicha is a very small place approximately 170 kms away from Ahmedabad which I had the opportunity to visit very recently. And I am only thankful that I did visit this place. It is a small village actually, then why was I so happy? Because inside this small village there is a place built called ‘Nilkanth Dham’.

It is supposed to be a religious place, but believe me anyone would simply fall for the place, by its grand stature. The pictures that I present here are not half as beautiful as the place itself.

Apart from the temple there is Sahjanand Universe, a place built for recreation, a water show, a small zoo, a garden and a park, a very small and yet organised science city, mirror palace, and a wide range of things to do.

In short, for me it was a day well spent.

When I paid extra for a pair of cotton pants!

Last week I was roaming around in a new city, the curious me was trying to find new and local places to shop, exciting places to eat which brought me and my mom to a street with endless options for shopping.

The warm, sunny day was about to get more warm as we started our outing. The street was filled with colourful dresses and endless amount of accessories. You name it and they had it. I am not the fan of roadside shopping, but when I travel I do like to get something which reminds me of that place. And so I dragged my mom along with me that day.

Somewhere down that street we stopped outside a shop which was comparatively more crowded than others, where I liked a pair of cotton pants. Every single person was trying to bargain with the owner of the shop, whom I could yet not see.

Slowly, one after the other the customers went away with only one of them buying something, and then I had the shock of that day. I was waving at the pants hanging outside, trying to know it’s price, when a small child, peeped outside and shouted that it was worth 300₹. That small child who could not have been a day older than 10, seemed to be the owner or the temporary owner of that place.

We asked her if there was any elder person who should have been there, or anyone who we could talk to instead of her, but she constantly said only one thing, “I am here to sell, there is no one else except for me and a younger sister of mine.” We wanted to talk to her more, but she did not want to answer. It seemed we were prying on her life, and new customers were pouring in.

So when she asked, “Do you want to buy it or not? My last price is 290₹?” I took out the money, paid her and bought those pants.

I stopped by my mom at her initial trial of bargain and simply paid 300₹.  The pants weren’t really unique, not that they were branded or something, may be if we would have haggled we might have convinced someone to sell it for 250, but I just didn’t feel like doing it. I felt for a 10 year old trying to make money on a weekday!

The Pictures

So my little expedition has some good parts too, and that I am going to show with the unprofessional photos here.

The foodie me will definitely start with the photos of the deliciousness.

And yet, I am happy that I am back, in time for Diwali.

A little Expedition #5

It took me almost 15 days to roughly do some of the arrangements and yet the bride is left with various other shopping. But now that everything else is fixed from the themes, and menu and the bride’s entry and the reception details, I finally booked my return tickets much to my cousin’s despair.

Honestly speaking, one more day here and I could lose my temper now and all the fake smiles and polite answers would be thrown in the dust. And now I literally dread the wedding. If she has become this crazy one month in advance, I don’t know how she is going to behave on the day of her wedding.

But for now I am just glad to return to my home where I can lie peacefully without worrying about some random demand out of the blue.

My return journey was quite the contrary to my previous one, with little adventure in it, and I was happy about it too. I could not deal with it probably being so drenched and out of patience. So with two different connecting flights bouncing and jerking over the turbulent weather, and a local train, I reached my home, to a peaceful environment after a long time.

My mom greeted me with the best of food which I was missing for long now and putting the November wedding out of my mind for now.

A little Expedition #4

The last few days have been a circus in here with really no time to spare. My days have been occupied with shopping for the crazy bride to be and continuous meetings with decorators, caterers, singers, band people, mehndi wali, safa wala and the unending list of people. And her request for not hiring a wedding planner was still constant despite my giving her various contacts with considerably decent contracts. Instead she insists on my staying here till the wedding which is in November. And honest to God, if I did that, I am going to go mad, literally mad.

Apart from the wedding, the best part was the Dandiya nights and the post navratri celebration which were simply put, fantastic. Of course I did not have a big group of friends there to dance with, but I still danced till my legs ached, and I could listen to my own heartbeats over the loudest of drums. And that is what I call Navratri- well spent.

But it was not the end.
