May Reads!

May might not have been as fruitful a month as April in terms of reading, but it was fun all the same.

virko

This was the second book in the series, and I am still skeptical about picking up the third one. Though it was better than the first one with more magic and demons but still I am not sure if this is such a great read.

Now, this one was really gripping, in the beginning that is. I went on a roller coaster ride, but then the running got too much, and it became mundane for me. A fair read!

jos boys

I love the March family, however much goody-good all of it sounds and I was only sorry to end the Little Women series with Jo’s boys.

march

Wait, so I was missing the March family too much, so I went to this amazing book and read about Mr. March and his life from his point of view. The book discusses in detail what happens when Mr. March is away from his family during the war. And the book is one of the best I have read.

poetics

Now, come one who am I to judge this! The writer must be judging me instead murmuring, “What the hell is she doing with my little book?”

bitar

This was a very short poetry book and each one shook with different emotions. A quick read dealing with themes of war and death.

Don’t know why I really bothered to even finish this! I just don’t know! DO NOT PICK THIS- I mean my point of view. At least read the reviews before you think of reading this. I thought this was going to be hilarious, but it was disastorous.

Forever waiting forGgodot at the Becket international airport! I think I might just grow old and die at the very same airport!

Well, that’s it for today. Though I am pretty sure my books to be read in June is going to go down drastically. We will see!

How about you guys? Any fascinating book that you are reading?

April Reads!

As much as I am shocked that we are already down with four months of the year, I think I may have covered up pretty much last month. Well, I am talking about reading and a little bit of writing. I started with having completed nine read books in January but it fell down to only two in the next months. And as for as writing is concerned it is almost on the same level.

But April, 2019, surprisingly was very productive considering my lackadaisical behaviour which lingers all year long!

When it comes to writing, you all know I am down to 30 poetries in the last month, which for sure might need a lot of editing but at the least it is there! And when it comes to reading, well, I think I have pretty much picked up my pace there too. And April, surprisingly was just AWESOME!

Here are the books that I read, some were really mind-boggling, others were good and yet some were disappointing. I am not doing any reviews here, the reviews are on Goodreads, if you want to find out more.

Find out below my April Reads:

1

Now this was HILARIOUS, I mean dealing with a serious issue, but still hilarious. You might want to pick it up if you want to read something a little out of the ordinary, despite the ordinariness.

2.jpg

Go ahead, judge me!!

3

Now this was a little unique. Mystery and demons and magic. Fictitious yet believable.

4.jpg

A simple historical romance, I’d say, but not so simple after all.

5.jpg

Judged again? But honestly, not quite worth it, I mean the book obviously 😉

6.jpg

This was my first with romance and thrill combined, and I was constantly on a roller-coaster ride, trying to find out what the hell happens. Might as well have developed a secret girl crush here.

7.jpg

Okay now some serious reading. (And of course I cannot judge it)

8.png

If the book title and the author itself isn’t enough for you to pick the book up,  then the humour, the mocking and the ideas written should be.

9.jpg

A very short poetry book, and it moves you considering the reality of the tragedy that the poet goes through.

10.jpg

This was my favourite from the month. The fact that that nothing is meaningful and the meaninglessness of life haas always hooked me.

11.png

CUTE! CUTE! CUTE!

12..jpg

Disappointed. Still wondering if to pick up the second one in the series or not!

13.jpg

I hadn’t expected much off it. However, it proved surprisingly great considering the least popularity of the book. In fact some of the passages delve into ‘life’ so much that its sheer simplicity would shock you. A decent historical fiction with wars, romance and a curse to add flavour to the book.

14.jpg

Only ‘some’ teens would like it. NOT MY CUP OF TEA!!!

Yeah, so 14 books in a month, not bad I guess?

What about you guys? What are you reading, what were you reading? Any recent favourites?

I am pretty sure, you won’t keep a book-addict waiting too long!!

White lies!

IMG-20190322-WA0001.jpg

I hate to lie,

About when I am going to lie.

I tell people that I am definitely tired,

When all I want is my ebooks to be fired.

They think the days toils have left me, arduous,

When in reality, I want to show my love,

Towards whom, I am so much virtuous.

They think they have succeeded,

In ripping me off, of my words and fantasy,

But a little more planning was supposed to be needed,

To have committed such a blasphemy.

But then again, I am happy to lie,

For under the sheets, I get to lie,

Where everyone tends to forgo the white lie.

Self Obsession!

I love myself. Hell yeah, I do! I mean come on, I am awesome 😀

Okay, enough with the self obsession.

I say this today because I love one thing about me. Whenever I read something good, a word, a sentence, a quote, a paragraph, I write it down and keep it with myself. At first, I used to keep a small memo pad or a pocket diary full of such amazing, jaw dropping quotes. (It doesn’t mean you like these quotes too. It is only, my taste that we are talking about here) But over the time I have stopped keeping that diary and instead I just write it down. So by now I have such wonderful lines written everywhere, on post it’s, on the back of a journal, on a single torn paper, on my phone, as a memo, as a draft message, and pretty much everywhere. What is wrong with this method is the fact that I cannot ever compile them at a single place now. But on the other hand, I get these as a surprise sometimes when I am least expecting them. For instance, today, I was rummaging through an old book, where I found a folded sheet of paper on which there was a very beautiful line. I am not even going to try translating it from Hindi, for the effort is going to be extremely hilarious. But I attach the sheet below, if by chance you like it.

I am pretty sure, this was not from a book, but may be a historical TV series, I just cannot place it. But isn’t it pretty? And ever since I have found this, I am simply smiling, smiling like an ignorant fool.

And even if it is not, I like it all the same. I love it, in fact. Remember, it’s all about self love now? So I love this, I love the way I keep writing these beautiful lines everywhere. and yes, I love myself!! Kyuki mai apni favourite hoon!! 😀

Pleasure!

IMG_1611.JPG

Oh that pleasure,

Of reading;

hidden from those prying eyes.

PS: Ashamed only to be doing it till now 😉

I am a Reader!?

I am pretty sure that many of you here will be book readers, so much so that reading would be an inseparable part of your life. Yes, I’d say that too, that I love reading books, I love to get lost in an imaginary world. But today I read something which shook my beliefs, that I was or am a book reader.

So I say that I read books, but how many, which ones? There are so many books and which ones do I pick?

I know the quantity does not matter, the quality does, but wait till you read this..

books.jpg

What do you say now? 😀

I am not much of a calculative person, but I am pretty sure that I am not reading since I was 5, I sometimes take more than a week to complete a book, and what more? I might not even live to be 80.

So I don’t even read 1% of fiction, non-fiction that is available to me and I call myself a reader?

Wondering why?

I don’t know why, but the darker the book’s plot, the more I tend to like it, so much so that I read it again and again.

So what is the darkest book you have read more than once?

Mine is:

A thousand splendid suns

-Khaled Hooseini.
